THANK YOU FOR SUBSCRIBING
Sohail Kayani, PresidentCentral to TIECHE’s success is its strategic focus on the mission-critical market. This sector, encompassing data centers, telecom switching facilities, and similar infrastructures, is highly dependent on operational integrity. Operational failures in this field carry significant consequences. For TIECHE, the implications of its work extend beyond conventional business objectives, touching on a societal level by ensuring the uninterrupted operation of these crucial structures.
Understanding the immense responsibility of its role, TIECHE has developed a specialized approach that combines automation with AI. At the core of its philosophy is the principle of ‘applicable AI,’ which prioritizes delivering pertinent, actionable data over general AI solutions. This method entails crafting AI-driven solutions that align with their client’s strategic goals, making each AI implementation highly effective.
Success with AI is not about amassing data or throwing various models at a problem. It is about focusing on our client’s business goals, tailoring AI to address specific needs, and using relevant, filtered data
TIECHE also addresses the complexities inherent in building automation projects. Its expertise spans the full spectrum of the process, from program development and strategy to design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and program management of intelligent systems, ensuring a streamlined and optimized approach.
“Success with AI is not about amassing data or throwing various models at a problem,” says Sohail Kayani, President of TIECHE. “It is about focusing on our client’s business goals, tailoring AI to address specific needs, and using relevant, filtered data.”
TIECHE distinguishes itself not merely by acquiring data but also by its astute application. This approach is encapsulated in two core strategies that underpin its operations, both aimed at preempting disruptions and enhancing business continuity.
TIECHE’s second strategic approach complements this: real-time collection and judicious data selection through its advanced systems. This strategy is not about amassing data indiscriminately but focusing on pertinent information to avert the pitfalls of data overload. The data encompasses a comprehensive range of monitoring variables such as spatial temperatures, pressures within specific equipment, and parameters critical to infrastructure.
The continuous stream of data collected serves a twofold purpose. Primarily, it equips TIECHE’s systems with the capability to rapidly respond to operational disturbances in buildings and foresee possible complications. For example, a detected change in pressure within a chiller plant could indicate an impending failure, triggering the system to activate contingency plans and alternative operational protocols. Secondly, the system plays a pivotal role in analyzing infrastructure efficiency, ensuring that opportunities for optimization are not missed. This includes making real-time decisions like operating economizers on cooler days to utilize lower external temperatures for cooling, thereby curtailing unnecessary energy expenditure.
Illustrating TIECHE’s expertise is a collaborative venture with a client, where the company intervened in designing a data center. This intervention was prompted by recognizing that the sole focus on peak load, without considering its gradual growth and operational intricacies, was detrimentally affecting operational efficiency. TIECHE collaborated with the client’s design team and provided insights based on its automation and AI platforms. Through a detailed study and client data analysis, the firm predicted it would be over several years before the data center reached its peak design load. This foresight allowed TIECHE to design an AI solution that simulated necessary modifications to the sequence of operations, preventing unnecessary equipment from running. This avoided excessive costs and extended the useful life of equipment, a factor often overlooked.
In another distinctive endeavor, TIECHE tackled a highly unusual project involving converting a 150-year-old historic building into a tech hub. Since the building’s exterior could not be altered, preservation constraints posed unique challenges. TIECHE’s team leveraged their understanding of humidity and other factors impacting the aging structure to ensure operational requirements were met while safeguarding and preserving the building’s historical integrity.
“We’re deeply embedded in the building design process right from the beginning, employing AI models to ensure that every aspect aligns with our client’s objectives and yields optimal results for them,” says Kayani.
TIECHE’s offerings extend globally, delivering products and services that support smart buildings and cities. Its engineers, with extensive technical experience in energy management, HVAC systems, building management systems (BMS), real-time supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), and building systems performance analysis, form a multi-disciplinary team capable of developing customized solutions tailored to client-specific needs.
In essence, TIECHE exemplifies a robust technological proficiency, adeptly coordinating innovation, expertise, and foresight. It consistently addresses industry challenges with each project, establishing a noteworthy standard in technology integration and intelligent solutions.
