Short-wave ultraviolet (UV-C) destroys airborne and surface-bound pathogens. However, it took a global pandemic for the business landscape to realize its significance as a reliable air and surface disinfectant. Today, the growing demand for UV-C-powered air purification products has caused a mushrooming of air purification vendors, most of whom are under-equipped to create holistically regulated systems.

Bridging this gap is RGF Environmental, an environmental technology manufacturing company creating ecologically safe, proprietary UV-centered systems for non-chemicalbased air and water treatment. Over the last 38 years, RGF Environmental has used its deep understanding of ultraviolet light and manufacturing expertise to design a portfolio of over 500 environmental products for air purification, water treatment, and food sanitation.

Adding to RGF Environmental’s know-how is its internal R&D team comprising seasoned engineers who are highly involved with The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and possess an unrivaled understanding of existing and emerging regulations.

Through these broad competencies, RGF Environmental has honed UV-C and developed a proprietary process called Photo-hydro-ionization (PHI), which is powered by an advanced indoor air quality (IAQ) technology proven to minimize and neutralize indoor air pollutants like bacteria, viruses, mold, volatile organic compounds, and their odors.

Setting RGF Environmental’s PHI-CELL® advanced IAQ technology apart is the controlled creation of hydrogen peroxide, which is highly effective in destroying harmful microbes in the air and on surfaces. Consequently, this innovative technology is pivotal in RGF Environmental’s Guardian Air, REMEHALO®, and HALO-LED product families, which bring natural antimicrobials found in outside air into a home or business’s conditioned space.

“RGF Environmental was the first to combine UV-based air purifiers with an air handling system. Today, we are an ISO 9001 quality-certified company with a goal to continue improving air quality for populations across different settings,” says Tony Julian, VP of business development.

RGF Environmental established an innovation process and combined it with its manufacturing expertise to improve conventional air filtration products and create a turnkey solution that meets a wide range of client demands.

For instance, RGF Environmental improved high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration by combining it with its HALOLED™ solution, proactively treating the air by combining low levels of airborne hydrogen peroxide with UV ionization to reduce microbes and pathogens, among other pollutants. Traditionally, air conditioning contractors and HVAC companies focus exclusively on heating and cooling and overlook air quality control. In most cases, when a client complains about mildew or odor, a contractor’s only recourse is to routinely change the filters. RGF Environmental’s vast product portfolio flips this script and equips the HVAC industry with the tools to combat these issues and deliver consistently higher indoor air quality.

Driven by a forward-thinking, innovative mindset and cutting-edge solutions, RGF Environmental helps the HVAC sector change its perception of resolving air quality concerns. Moving forward, it will continue offering solutions through its vertical manufacturing capabilities and expert R&D team to create safe indoor conditions.
