Q-PAC

“The reality is Q-PAC has completely removed complexity by building a different type of product. We feel like we’ve created an entirely new category of fan,” says Matt Kent, CEO of Q-PAC.

Having origins as an air handler manufacturer, Q-PAC’s past inspired its development of a unique approach to moving air. The Q-PAC FS1 Fan System implements smart fan technology engineered to optimize commercial air handling units’ (AHU) designs, installations, and operational efficiencies. Q-PAC’s approach employs an array of small, efficient fans in a kitted system. The renewed focus on form and function places Q-PAC in its own category.

When asked to expand on Q-PAC’s impact, Matt recounted the story of a 40-story Class A building that tabbed Q-PAC as the preferred choice for an extensive HVAC retrofit, given the design flexibility, ease of installation, and energy efficiency. The FS1 initially saved the project money by avoiding extensive demolition and installation costs due to its kitted design and simple installation.

The beauty of Q-PAC’s FS1 Fan System resides in its engineering, prioritizing scalability and flexibility. The kit condenses spacing and timing, fitting any AHU configuration, while its Plug-and-Play components provide hassle-free installation and maintenance. The FS1 arrives on-site with all pieces, from fans and bulkhead walls to sheet metal screws and zip ties.

Everything is pre-measured and pre-labeled for the exact job specifications— speeding up installation, eliminating errors, and aiding in the facility team’s transition. The ECM fans run quieter than other systems and more efficiently at standard operating levels. The system requires no maintenance, saving facilities time and money on costly work and labor hours. And the redundancy is quite possibly the FS1’s most defining feature. If one fan fails, the others in the array ramp up to cover the load indefinitely. With Q-PAC’s technology, facilities will never have a critical fan failure again.

As the relationships continued, Matt recounted the facility discovering inefficiencies in the building’s overall infrastructure and design, an opportunity that set Q-PAC apart from the other HVAC options. “So this particular client did a unique thing that inspired us. Over time, we worked with them for so long and replaced so many of their fans that they recognized the [building] design was imperfect. We’re talking engineering a building, which is a very complex thing. When they recognized an opportunity for savings, they could iterate on our system to reduce their total load and improve their ROI by removing some of the motors from the system because they recognized that [the original HVAC system] had been oversized.”

This example speaks to the heart of many realizations in facilities management: the need to align goals and actions. The FS1 generates numerous advantages for commercial buildings transitioning to updated technologies and looking to retrofit their infrastructure or new construction, aiming to be efficient from the onset. “The reality is Q-PAC has completely removed complexity by building a different type of product. We feel like we’ve created an entirely new category of fan.”

As Q-PAC navigates toward the future, its visionary perspective and commitment to long-term impact set it apart in construction and HVAC. Q-PAC’s ability to create a new approach demonstrates a rare blend of foresight, courage, and dedication in a marketplace demanding bigger, faster, and greener. Boldly confronting construction challenges in the era of energy efficiency and ESG, Q-PAC stands as a pioneering force in commercial HVAC and rethinking air.
